Learn More About 3D Scanning and 3D Printing

3D scanning produces a mesh file (.stl) that can be edited with a number of software programs such as Mesh Mixer. This project will produce an online catalogue, 3D foam models for laboratory use, and 3D foam models for ‘a la carte’ printing by students for self-study. Students can access this online catalogue at their leisure as a study tool. In addition the 3D foam models for use in the laboratory will be generated from these images providing seamless integration of images and models within the classroom and laboratory. as the models are made of foam. learning tasks within the laboratory will focus on reducing cognitive load by allowing students to isolate structures via removal of unnecessary structures and perform additional additive and subtractive tasks. Further, students will be able to print models for self-study and reproduce laboratory tasks at their own pace.
